Safeguarding - Herefordshire

Protect a child or young person

There are many possible signs of abuse and neglect, ranging from physical injury to changes in appearance or behaviour.  Alternatively, you may witness an incident or a child may tell you that he or she is being harmed. If you are worried, please report it. You could help to save a child's life. Even if you don't know them, or even their name. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

In an emergency or if someone is in immediate danger, always call 999.

If you think that a child has been harmed or is being neglected, contact the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub on 01432 260800 or call the Police on 101.

Early help and support for families

All families need some extra support at times.

Early help aims to provide the support you and your children need, when you need it, to help you manage difficult times and get back on track. If you are experiencing difficulties in your family or are worried about your children, there are people that can offer help and support. Difficulties could be:

  • You are worried about your child's health, development or behaviour
  • Family relationships
  • Your child is struggling in school
  • Issues with parenting
  • Debt problems
  • Housing problems

If you need more help and advice than the usual support networks can provide, the family support process can help. You can contact the early help team on 01432 260261 or send a secure email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
